I recently noticed that I've spent way too much time playing games on the internet or on my i-phone trying to get to the next level of "fill in the blank;" when truly I was playing the game of self-sabotage and procrastination.
Do you, too, waste away hours of time procrastinating, waiting for your ah-ha moment? Do you find yourself escaping for longer than necessary playing mindless games on the internet rather than focusing on your goals and challenging your true potential?
I'm not knocking video games or other games, as they can be great for taking a break or zoning out for a bit, or even as educational tools. However, it depends on how we are using them and how they can become our addiction of choice. By using them too often, they can keep us from challenging ourselves to living the daring life we internally want, yet are avoiding.
If you, too, catch yourself, procrastinating and avoiding living your more challenging life, then today can be the day you begin along with me. My focus of this website "Design Your Daring Life" and this article is not only meant for my readers, but it is my life's challenge, as well. I've felt for too long that I've played my life safe and convenient...and though there was good reason for this, my time has come, and hopefully yours, as well, to break out of the safety zone and truly live up to our full potential.
My hope is that we each find what it is we are seeking, what we internally know to be true and then go all out for it. Whether it is finding a romantic partner, starting your own business, graduating from college, or traveling the globe. Our journey to conquer our fears and start living an exciting life begins today; right now.
Brainstorm at least 8 things you can do that will get you off the couch and start actively participating in your life. If, for example, you want to find a romantic partner, list 8 things you could do to help you get there. If you've always dreamed of writing a book, list 8 things you could do to make that happen.
If you struggle creating your list; a mindmap can be a helpful tool for brainstorming. Below is my mindmap I created for my own 8 action steps. Click here to download a blank mindmap for your brainstorming adventure.
Next, choose 1 item on the list that you could start today. If you are unable to start it today, put a date to it and mark it on your calendar.
It's never too late to start really living your life, to honor your gifts, to acknowledge your desires, and then to act on them.
